Rank Promotion Tests for colored belts
are scheduled every two months (every even numbered month i.e.,
February, April, June, etc.) on either the 3rd or 4th Thursday.
Each scheduled testing date is marked on the school's Annual Calendar which is posted on the Announcement Board at the school and on the school's website. (Those
who cannot make it to the test on the test date can make arrangements
with the Masters for another date/time to make up the test.)
-
As a pre-requisite for the test, the students must collect 5 colored stripes which are given after certain classes.
-
The Masters will post at the school a list of students who have demonstrated that they are prepared for the tests.
-
"Board breaking" practice will occur
during class time on the Monday and Tuesday prior to the Thursday
test.
-
If the student is listed on the posting by the Masters, the Rank Promotion Test Application Form should be completed and submitted along with the Testing Fee to the school by the Monday prior to the test. The Parent Appraisal Form (Smile Chart) should be submitted also if the child wants to receive a red star.
-
Students will need to prepare for the
test by attending class regularly, practicing at home their Basic
Motion and Form requirements for their belt level, and practice their
Breaking at the board breaking session(s) on the Mon./Tues. prior to
the test. Little Tigers through Grade 5 should also know the 7 Home Rules for Children (they will be tested on them).
-
New belts and certificates are presented to the students that pass the test on the Wednesday and Thursday following the test.

In
Each Class....
- The student must arrive 5 to
10 minutes before the class.
- When entering the school, say
Hello to Master ("Hello Ma'am or Sir") and everyone else.
- In the locker room, put away
your shoes, socks and other belongings.
- Entering the class:
As you come
in, pick up your attendance card from the card box. Walk to the back of
the room and sit down on your knees with the card.
- Entering and leaving
during the class:
First, bow to the flags and kneel down on the line. Wait for the
Master's permission to enter the class. When given permission, walk
slowly, without disturbing the class. If you should leave the class,
raise your hand to get permission from Masters.
- If you are late!!
How do you
enter the class? If you are late for the class, sit down on your knees
at the back of the practice area with your attendance card and wait to
be permitted into the class by the Master.
- Learn to pay
"Attention!!" Attention
is to have total control over your mind and body. Put your feet, hands
together and keep your eyes straight. No bodily or mental movement is
allowed.
- Learn to Bow.
Bowing is a way to
show respect. Put together your hands on your lower belly and lower
your head and upper body as low as you can. Always bow to the flags,
Masters, friends and parents.
- Learn to yell
"Kihap." Kihap
(yell) is to add more power to your punches and kicks. It also helps to
suppress the opponent during confrontation. Be as loud as you can.
- The student must not engage
in an unnecessary conversation during class.
- When the student
needs to leave during the class, he or she must receive
permission to do so by the Master.
- A student can practice only
under the Master or a high rank student authorized by the Master.
- The student must try to keep
the school clean.

Discover
Your Maximum Potential
|
TaeKwonDo
is the most popular
form of Korean Martial Arts with 2000 years of history. It is taught
worldwide in over 115 countries totaling over 100 million students. The
word TaeKwonDo means: TAE-to strike with feet; KWON-to destroy with
fists; DO-the right ways. Ahn's TaekwonDo teaches the traditional
Korean TaeKwonDo with experienced masters.

Self-Confidence
Through Patience and Discipline
|
Indomitable
spirit is the
wellspring of the martial artist's courage. It is the foundation of the
martial attitude that nothing is impossible. Indomitable spirit
requires the belief that victory is possible. It requires a refusal to
surrender, to give up, to collapse, or to believe in shortcomings. A
TaeKwonDo workout is demanding. It is difficult. It should pose
challenges that students do not think they can meet. It should even,
from time to time, seem impossible. However, the determination to try
is what matters most.
TaeKwonDo
values a determined
commitment to do the impossible, and to push one's limits at all times.
Eventually, students discover that determination brings its own rich
rewards in the form of accomplishment and enormous satisfaction. Ahn's
TaeKwonDo teaches and requires a tough and resilient will to develop
coordination and overcome exhaustion and fear. Ahn's TaeKwonDo teaches
and requires indomitable spirit of each student by acquiring
self-confidence through patience and discipline. We take teaching
seriously.
Learning
self-defense is an
insurance against the hazards of modern living. Through simulated
situations of what could happen in real life, Ahn's TaeKwonDo will
prepare you to protect yourself against assault. Our techniques can be
supplied by anyone as you will learn to use your opponent's strength
and energy to your advantage. By knowing how to defend yourself, your
confidence will grow and act as a deterrent to any would-be attacker.
Develop the power of positive thinking.
In 1975,
the sport of
TaeKwonDo was admitted by the General Association of International
Sports Federation (GAISF) and it has become an accredited event for the
Olympic Games since the 1988 Olympics. TaeKwonDo is not just a martial
art, but also a main sport in the Olympics. Having Masters with winning
experiences in various championships, Ahn's TaeKwonDo provides special
sparring classes with Olympic rules and regulations for the long term
Olympic goals of medals.
